Careers Provisions

Thirds and Removes (Years 7 and 8)

Curriculum focus for our Lower School pupils is on learning the skills required to enhance employability through our Learning for Life and Lion Diploma programmes.聽 All pupils have access to the Job Explorer Database (JED).

Lower Fourth (Year 9) all pupils have:

  • A one-on-one interview with Head of Careers, Innovation and Entrepreneurship to discuss subject choices for GCSE
  • An Options Assembly
  • An Options Evening with their parents
  • An Entrepreneurial Day
  • A workshop session about 鈥渨hat employers want鈥

Upper Fourth (Year 10) all pupils:

  • Complete the Morrisby profile
  • Attend an Employability Day

Fifth Form (Year 11) all pupils have:

  • One-on-one interview with Head of Careers, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • GCSE to A Level Options Assembly Options Booklet and Options Evening
  • 20-minute meeting with an independent Careers Advisor
  • A Level subjects taster lessons
  • CV writing and letters of application guidance
  • Access to Unifrog platform to explore University courses and Apprenticeships

Lower Sixth (Year 12) all pupils attend:

  • Sixth Form transition talk
  • Old Bancroftian Careers Evening
  • Law Day (if applicable)
  • CV and Job application enrichment lessons
  • Careers Interview Day
  • Competitive University Admission Workshop
  • University and Careers Fair
  • Apprenticeship Evening

Upper Sixth(Year 13) all pupils receive:

  • UCAS application and submission advice, for application to Universities
  • Mock medical, dentistry, veterinary and Oxbridge interviews if applicable
  • Enrichment lessons on personal finance
  • Attend the University and Careers Fair

Alongside the activities listed above, there are many other opportunities for pupils to engage in careers education throughout the school year.

  • The Bancroft鈥檚 Higher Education and Careers fair is attended by Bancroft鈥檚 U4, 5th and Sixth Form pupils as well as pupils from our partnership and local state schools.
  • An International Women鈥檚 Week Careers Fair to which all girls from Bancroft鈥檚 and our partnership and other local state schools are invited.
  • A wide range of careers talks and events which include monthly lunchtime sessions and evening Q&As
  • The Sixth Form lecture programme offers an exciting opportunity for students to listen to and question some of the leading thinkers and speakers in industry, business, the arts, the charity sector and more.
  • One-to-one sessions can be arranged with the Head of Careers to provide impartial guidance, exploring feasible options in higher education, careers, gap years, internships, and apprenticeships.
